Summoning spec > Higher intercept rate?

I vaguely remember hearing somewhere that speccing higher in summoning increases the intercept rate for spiritmaster pets. Am I just imagining that?

Edit: For anyone else who might be wondering, no your summoning spec has no effect on intercept rates (as per my tests against mobs). In fact, debuffs seem to have no effect either.
