In general what are the spells using while chain farming and how are they cycled?

Power tap, con debuff if you want, shade lifetap.

Buff up your pet (you don't even need to pot yourself if you're chaining reds or lower), power tap (with con debuff if you want) until they get within shade lifetap range, then spam the shade tap until they die.

Rinse.

Repeat.

So the pet can only melee when mob has closed distance?
Or can you power tap more with FP?

FP will allow you to get three more pet-cast spells in. It used to be as many as you could fit into the 6 second window, but they capped it at 3 here.

When you hit it, listen for the boom before hitting your pet-cast spell, and don't spam those spells. The biggest thing to get used to for a Necro with most people is that pet-cast spells use the mana when you push the button, not when the spell is cast, so if you spam the button you'll be OOP in seconds and your pet will still only cast the first one and the one you queued behind it.

That’s why I was out power level 1-5 so fast

So no queuing spells?

You can mash shade-cast spells, because their power is used as they cast.

Pet-cast spells use power as they are queued, and since you can only actually have two queued at a time, you can burn through your power by mashing them. You can have one active spell casting, and another queued up, but if you hit the key again before the first has casted, you're just burning a chunk of your power for nothing.

There are multiple queues, 1 is the pet's casts
and another is the shade's casts

The spells casted by the pet cost power as soon as the key is pressed, whereas the spells casted by the shade consume power as soon as the spell's cast time is complete. This means that all of your spells consume power before they're even queued

Anytime your pet is interrupted the pet-casted queue gets wiped. Both queues only hold 1 spell, so if you finished 2 shade spells before the first one is fired by the pet only the second is used. This happens particularly often when your shade is buffed (casting faster than pet) or if the pet is CC'd

the third queue is for FP so that it doesn't get overwritten by anything

Going back to the pet-casted queue, because your spells consume power prior to casting this means you can cast a powertap, queue a lifetap, and end up with full power once the initial powertap finishes (compared to just spamming powertap, the damage is higher).

Since the debuffs use the shade queue they can be queued to be casted in between your pet's taps
