1 Week NF Test Event

We're going to do a week long event that introduces the new frontiers region, for the duration of this event the OF zones will be inaccessible, after the event is over NF will be deactivated and OF will become accessible again.

Relics will be reset and all keeps will be reset to level 1, unclaimed and owned by the original owner realm both at the start and at the end of this event.

The primary purpose of this event is to end speculation on what the majority of people would prefer but instead to get feedback after people were able to actually compare the two choices.

For the keeps, the same restrictions as in the Molvik event would still apply, meaning no razing / siege towers / holes in walls.

Diving is something we're still deciding, however, currently it looks like diving will most likely cause damage the moment you dive, effectively disabling it. Swim speed will remain as if you have the best swim buff active.

Unless we run into unforeseen issues, the current plan would be to open it on Monday, June 10th and close it again midnight CEST between Sunday the 16th and Monday the 17th.

Background info:
Due to the patcher suddenly being unable to provide client files we were forced to update to the most recent client version. Since that had to happen without any prior notice there wasn't really a way to wait for the community to figure out how to provide each other with the required files and hence updating was the only real option.

The update itself brought some issues with it, one being that diving appears to no longer being controlled server side since 1125 but also some annoying things affecting the old frontiers. After most of the issues caused by the update were somewhat resolved work began to support NF to have some alternative. Originally, we didn't intend to even start work on that until much later, after more work went into stability / bug fixes, however, the update kind of forced us to consider alternatives.

With the Molvik event we tested the basics of the new keeps and to get a general notion of how people react to those keeps. The way the NF keeps work made it only very slightly more work (literally minutes) to have all new keep layouts in the game instead of just the one Molvik keep and so the only remaining things needed to make the NF zones work would be populating it with mobs and adding the water boat routes as well as the relic system and the EV keep, for this event we'll forgo the latter two, while nice to have those two are not really necessary to do a short test to see the general reaction.

Keep Teleporting in NF:
Portal Stones will be in the relic towns as well as all keeps. To teleport from a keep the teleport chain to that keep has to be unbroken, to teleport to a keep the teleport chain to that keep has to be unbroken. For the NF event the two outer most keeps are also valid teleport destinations, the no porting for 2 minutes after release restriction is also not in effect.

In general there are still two teleport chains per realm, they always start with the keeps closest to the relic walls (Renaris, Hurbury, Ailinne, etc.) and always go via the center keep (Boldiam, NGed, Glenlock) and from the center keep to all other keeps.

To teleport to another realm you need an unbroken chain to your outer most keep (beno, bled, crauchon) and the target keep, the 3 outer most keeps per realm are possible teleport locations.

Taking a tower of a keep breaks the teleport chain, that means the realm can then not only not teleport to the keep the captured tower belongs to but the realm can't teleport to any other keep further along the teleport chain either. Siege / door status by itself has no effect on the teleport chain, only the tower / keep ownership.

Teleport chains:

Albion:
Renaris | Hurbury -> Boldiam -> Benowyc -> Bledmeer | Nottmoor | Blendrake | Crauchon | Crimthain | Bolg
Renaris | Hurbury -> Boldiam -> Eras | Surs | Berk

Midgard:
Fensalir | Arvakr -> Glenlock -> Bledmeer -> Beno | Eras | Berk | Crauchon | Crimthain | Bolg
Fensalir | Arvakr -> Glenlock -> Hlidskialf | Blendrake | Nottmoor

Hibernia:
Ailinne | Scathaig -> nGed -> Crauchon -> Beno | Eras | Berk | Bledmeer | Nottmoor | Blendrake
Ailinne | Scathaig -> nGed -> Behnn | Bolg | Crimthain

Darkness Falls:
DF ownership is determined by the number of keeps and towers owned, including the 3 towers on EV

Keep / Tower rewards:
Tower give half the reward of keeps and don't increase the rp pool multiplier. For now the tower captures will count as keep captures for the title, this might change.

Keep Task:
Same as now however, capturing a tower of the target keep as attacker increases the timer by 15 minutes, capturing a target keep tower as defender reduces the timer by 5 minutes. Only actual keeps will be the target keeps.

Master Craftsman
He is now to be found on Ellan Vannin (Step 6). Ghastly & Ghostly mobs (Step 5) are also on Ellan Vannin. There are also spots in other zones, but only the ghostly/ghastly on Ellan Vannin count for the quest. The quest text will not be updated for the test.

Mob Placement
The whole mob placement is custom. All mobs that drop xp items and which are needed for quests are to be found in the same zones like in OF, but mostly at different locs. Non xp item mobs are also placed custom. Not all of them made it to NF. Some are still missing and will be added during the week. Many zones got new, custom mobs with a mob type bonus that is one of the highest in the actual realm.

Supply Master
The supply masters can be found next to the dockmaster in Emain/Cruachan/Odins/Uppland/Hadrians/Forest Sauvage. The info about the locs on the items has not been updated.

Diving
You will now get a lot of damage, if you are diving.

Keeps & Towers
All keeps & towers will be unclaimed and level 1. DF will be neutral at the start. The realm that owns the most keeps and towers will have access to DF. Walls can not be destroyed, keeps will not change their appereance when they level up.

Oil
if you dont sit in a ram, all toons (except Armsman, Hero & Warrior) will get 150% damage of their HP when getting hit by oil. Fulltanks will only get 75%.
If you sit in a ram, all toons will get 75% damage, fulltanks will only get 37% damage.

Relics
Relics are disabled for now.

Boats
When in a boat, you cant be attacked. Some routes may still be buggy, please report them to us and we will fix them. Some routes are still missing. All routes are for free.

Ellan Vannin
There are only a few mob spots with the highest mob type bonuses for every realm. Those can be found in the outer areas on Ellan Vannin. The "underground"-keep on Ellan Vannin doesnt have any function atm, you can only raid the towers next to the milegates. You cant port to Ellan Vannin. You can only reach it by feet. It is intended that there are not that many mobs so you will have a huge area to fight.

Climbing walls
Besides stealthers all light tanks (Bm, Svg, Zerk & Merc) are able to climb into keeps and towers.

First days of the one week test are over and no matter if you like NF or not, the topic is heated up a lot and there are disccusions going on all over the place. We expected something like this and would like to thank you for the feedback that is reaching us via ig, discord or forum. Most of the feedback is very helpful and it is nice to see that most people try to discuss in a reasonable way. Thanks again.

But also some rumors are starting to spread, regarding the decision if NF or OF. Thats why I would like to announce the following:

- At the end of the one week test, we will switch back to OF
- We are already reading and will continue reading the NF-Thread very attentively
- There will be an opinion poll after the test has ended
- As soon as we have a result of that poll, we will try to make the best possible decision including all the (reasonable) feedback we got during this week

Expect a final decision about one week after the test has ended.

The one week NF test event is over and before im going to annouce what you are all are waiting for, I would like to thank everyone who took part. Also thank you very much for all the feedback and all the different suggestions you were posting on the forum.

If you checked yesterday /servernews, you saw that we were implementing an ingame voting system, because we would like to know your opinion on NF and OF. If you log in or change the zone there will be a hint in the combat log that there is an active voting going on and that you didnt voted on that yet. If you want to take part, just do ingame /vote and the combatlog will list the different options you have. Choose one and choose wisely. You cant change it after you submitted your vote.

Please note that only accounts that have at least one lvl 50 RR 3 char on it, will be able to vote. The voting will end at the end of the week. So everybody has more than enough time to make an decision.
