Single and AoE Unbreakable Speed Decrease?

When and how do you use it?

They're focus snares. Stand still and cast one on an enemy. Any action you take afterward will break the snare.

The single target one is basically pointless. I've found the AoE one very difficult to use, as well, mainly because it's situational so by the time I'm in a situation it would actually work, I'm not used to using it and end up fumbling around too much when I could've just taken a different strategy.
