Armsman spec - Phoenix Freeshard

Hey I'm returning to phoenix today and I'm planning to start a Armsman and I'm wondering what is a good spec for this class?

50 pole
42 shield
39 slash/thrust/crush whichever you prefer
rest parry

While levelling just spec whichever weapon drop has the best stats, you have (practically) infinite respecs while levelling on phoenix.

Slash is good for leveling and Thrust is good for RvR. Mid chain is weak to Thrust and all of Hib is neutral to Thrust.

If you get really good with positional styles you can eventually drop the 42 Shield spec down to 23 or 35 Shield and put more spec points elsewhere (such as a potential split spec or more parry.)

Why would you ever drop shield below 42, you want slam for RvR

It's a ton of spec points just to grant someone 45 seconds of stun immunity. I prefer going with shorter stuns to stop someone in their tracks, giving me an opportunity to either hit someone with a snare style or Prevent Flight proc. Plus, a 4 to 8 second positional stun is good enough IMO.

Also I’m sure the people who you’re peeling/guarding would rather you be higher shield.

What are you doing with your spec points, though? You already got 50 Pole and after that the next thing on my list would be having as high as possible shield spec for max block chance while guarding.

For one thing, split spec if wanted. If not then yes, might as well go 42 Shield. However, there are options other than 50 pole 42 Shield Comp weapon rest parry
