Hello there,

me and a friend of mine want to give daoc a try, but we have basically no clue about the classes, so i wanted to ask if anyone has a good suggestion for a fun and beginner friendly duo-comp, we just wanna have some fun pve-ing at the start but it would be a plus if the comp could hold its own in pvp later in the game.

thanks in advance, kind regards and i hope to see you on the battlefield soon

My friend is a fan of norse mythology, but besides that we're very flexible

Midgard just about any duo will work. There are some tradeoffs. Some classes are great in PvE and some are great in PvP

Here's some good ones

2x shadow blades. Excellent RvR. But theres a ton of stealthers already. Hardest to lvl in PvE though. (But it's so easy to 50 here it's not a huge deal). They can get pretty expensive to temp. All assasins tend to be the most expensive to temp.

Shadowblade/hunter. Bow range damage and pet for interrupts make it a decent pair. Currently archers arent in the best place though.

Healer/skald. Lots of CC ability here and healing. Problem is you give up damage.

Skald+ nearly any other class. If you arent a stealther in a duo, you need to run with a speed class or you are pretty much going to get rolled all the time. My brother is a skald and I run a suppression bonedancer and we kill it in RvR. It's my favorite duo thus far.

As Numatic said, many possible combos on Mid (as on other realms).
As i'm thinking $/gear first, i usually go for caster (SM/BD) to farm -which can be tuned to fit rvr later too- for my part. But fighter will do too.
Works with both sup. classes : healer for cc/pom, shaman for speccs/endu with advantage of dots to help killing faster.

minst + infi, both good dps/stealth, and a ton of cc + speed, cant really go wrong with that.

he wants to have fun in pve and ppl suggest 2sb or infi/minst... Oo

Go Midgard something like Shaman/Skald or Hib Bard/BM - these combos each provide you with Speed, Buffs, Endu, CC, Heals and Dps - are super viable as duo and can easly get you in Grps. Both work well in PvE and RvR

heres a few suggestions that arent hurr durr.

Midgard:
Shaman + Skald: easy to use, fun to play, viable in all aspects of the game, fun because always maximum movmenet speed no matter what happens

Hibernia:
Enchanter + Mentalist: for leveling go lightspec on both if you wanna duo and mana spec on both if you wanna group with others. use your free /respec all at trainer at will! - its stupid how much nuking power those 2 classes bring onto the table. casterspeed available which is a plus...also super relevant in pve AND pvp content and tons of fun.

Albion:
Friar + Theurgist: not as mainstream as the Shaman / Skald, but very deadly. Casterspeed available, tons of fun to play, very effective and nice learning curve for both players - also relevant in all aspects of the game - altho friar is considered meh by many in grp-rvr id group one any day if the player knows what hes doing.

...cant go wrong with those rly. all fun, effective and relatively easy to pull off.

In albion, if you want to level fast and have decent RvR characters, you could go with Matter Cabalist/Earth Wizard. This duo will let you farm huge groups of mobs (20+) with the cabalist's pet and AoE DoT spell while the wizard stands to the side and spams his AoE DD spell in the train. This setup can easily be converted to a pbaoe focus group if the wizard decides to spec into Ice. Since you can respec freely until level 50 you can easily change between these two ways to play depending if you have a group or are only duo

If you would like a more melee oriented new player friendly group in Albion , a Friar with any of the melee classes will do well. Armsman and Merc will be the prime choices here as they will see play in RvR. Friar can also contribute to RvR as healer that can supply much needed resist buffs to the group

Almost any 2 classes go together except for all the stealth classes.

Mana ment+ animist or mana ment+chanter are great for some PvE fun

It's hard to compare the infinite utility that a good mene can provide in duo in this patch time, so if you want to have fun a good set up go mini/x imo.

For hibernia you can consider bard plus melee. You can choice the standard BM or hybrids for utility, champ bring you debuffs, rupts, insta snare and static tempest but you lose stoicism. VW I dont like that much since you lose slam in a duo. You can also consider ench but its an harder set up at low RR especially given the high amount of stealther out there.

Skald/any is the evergreen of mid for a good reason and you are pretty open on 2nd slot as well.
