Necro template, gear, buffs & summon?

So I vaguely remember using summon suits on live a dozen years ago.
Back then I had a buff bot and buffed necro first then summoned then buffedbpet.

So what gear is useful now?
Is a summon suit helpful?
What pots?
And when do you summon relation to pots?
