Berserker OF Charge

Hi,

there was some more or less interesting discussion in Discord today about this rather useless ability, and i had some time to crawl through the internet...

First of all, i can't provide a video where it is actually shown, NF was released basically before yt was launched and there is not a lot of footage from historic. Also the patch introduced shaman endurance which makes this ability more or a niche and probably wasn't even worth to put on the hotbar.

in specific it is about the following notes:
wrote: Additionally, we've added a new (level-based) ability called "Charge", learned by Blademasters, Mercenaries, and Berserkers only, at 40th level. To charge, the tank selects an enemy, and initiates this ability. When active, the tank sprints at full sprint speed, with no endurance loss, for 10 seconds towards the target. If he breaks off, or changes target, or the 10 seconds expires, the tank goes back to normal running speed. Can be used every 5 minutes.

The most important is probably this link:
Camelot Herald 1.53 LIVE Release Notes: https://web.archive.org/web/20021210024638/http://www.camelotherald.com/more/501.php

further just as additional references:
the usual https://darkageofcamelot.com/content/patch-notes which leads to https://camelotherald.fandom.com/wiki/Patch_Notes:_Version_1.53

a ign thread from 2002-12 complaining about the zerker with mentioning charge on several occasions: https://www.ignboards.com/threads/berserkers-need-a-bit-of-toning-down.452392707/

sample:
wrote: Being hit for 600 primary 200 secondary is balanced, especially when you're wearing 102af armor, are fully AF buffed, have 27% absorb, and 26% slash resist. Berserkers may have been balanced before all this endurance chant/buff, endurance potion, and charge nonsense came out. Now, they can perma-style, perma-sprint and mow through people before healing classes can even fire an instant. And these are level 50s with every defensive ability available that they are mowing down.

some german wiki: https://daocpedia.com/index.php?title=Patch_1.53
some more german guild? site: http://www.dreher-it.de/daoc/yohp/patch_153bis154.html
Note on the last one the combined notes ("Version 1.53 - 1.54 Release Notes"; past in the times daoc europe was maintained by a company named GOA which was always behind US Live by some month and they used to summarize several patches if they actually patched.

I somewhat hope this finally ends the legend that Berserkers had no OF Charge. But if there is some more needed i'll probably ask in reddit/twitter for screenshots after i finished crying

Re: Berserker OF Charge

What's the point of this? Ok give berserkers charge, its not all that relevant here. This server has made endurance management nearly moot with regen rate, barrels, tireless and longwind. When this was introduced back in 2002, it was more beneficial (especially on albion) because it wasn't uncommon for tanks to be ooe fairly often as endurance regen tools were slower.

Do the other realms actually waste RP on this ability?

First of all OF Charge is not a RA, it is a normal ability you get with level 40. So no ra points will be harmed.

Main point of this is that there is since some years people chanting that the zerker had no charge back in the time, and that drives me mad If the phoenix devs decide its not worth the effort to implement this since nobody will use it anyway its perfectly fine for me. Honestly i only see a use for it for solo actually, but even then its probably not used.
